Monkeys are Hairy!!!

Yep. Monkeys are hairy. Nope, I haven't really seen any monkeys, exept thi one time when in Nairobi we had to stop the car because there were like 6 baboons crossing the road. That doesn't happen every day. So hello there. Niaje. That means how are you? So I'm still in Africa. Hey Mom, Dad, aunt Sue, Leslie, Jess, Jess, and everybody else who has said hey. I do miss all of you. Yeah so last week I wasn't able to get on on thursday. we had a power black out. so we did come friday and we weren't able to load any pictures up. i hope to do so soon.

Since we last conversed. So the girl that was suppossed to come, Mandi, wasn't able to come at the same time as we were. Her passport didnt' come in intime. But guess what? It did come in and so did she. She got here last Wednesday. Since last week we have just been introducing her to Machakos. We have done sopme ministry though. We were able to go to the local university where we have a ministry and watch this big track meet thing. They were competing against each other. The winners would like join a team and then compete against other universities in kenya. So after being bored with that after 6 minutes we all played basketball for hours. it was great. We got to meet two guys who are good and they have joined our core group meetings that take place on sundays. that is a good thing. we are not sure if they are both CHristians. But we would really appreciate it if you could pray for them. Brian and Freddy are their names. We will continue hanging out with them and playing basketball. Yesterday we met for core group and then a Bible study at the high school. ANthony gave a talk about redefining success. We had two good studies yesterday.

So just about random life. We eat food here. Today for lunch we went to kenchic inn where they are kuku about chicken. kuku is the kenyan name for chicken. it was kinda american mixed with kenyan food. I had a half chicken and some fries then a big fruit salad. It was good. Stuf is kinda cheap here. We have shillings and the exchange rate is 65 to the dollar. We buy sodas for like 16 shillings. the internet i am using now is 1 shilling a minute. I usually spend what is equal to one dollar for one hour of internet. thats pretty good. we see cows and goats everywhere. we have running water. we dont have a stove. we have a gas burner that we cook everything on. we sleep under mosquito nets. they arent that bad though. its winter here. really it is. i vomited this morning. the past couple of times we have did pull ups on this tree and push ups and ran i have felt nausious. this morning i actually puked. kinda gross I know, but how many times do you actually get to vomit in Africa. When in Africa, as the saying goes. So we are still going our the safari to maisi mara. its the 8th wonder of the world. we are going july 2-4. exciting. so i am enjoying it here. let me know if you have any questions. next time i write I can answer them. Thanks for all the prayers and posts. Have a fantastic week!

CORY! I am sorry to hear that you puked...that isn't fun but I am glad to hear that you eat! Also I am glad that you haven't been eaten by a hippo yet. Have you seen a hippo? I pray every night that you don't cause I think a bunch of people would miss you. Well it sounds like you are doing amazing things while you are over there. Know that you are in my prayers and that I miss you!

Hey Cory - thanks for the wonderful update. It may sound corny to you but we love to hear about all the mundane stuff such as puking! No really, don't push yourself too much and get sick. Your Daddy told me about the blackout and I bet that was very different. The closest thing we have to a blackout is when the electricity goes out for a couple of hours occassionally and then we are chomping at the bit to call CLECO and get it back on. I bet the stars are really awesome to see with a whole city on blackout. There is a website that you can go to that will show you the Earth at night. Wow, you can see all of the developed cities such as New York, Dallas, even Baton Rouge and Alexandria. Then you can see the areas that don't use much electricity such as Africa. Maybe it's a Google feature. I bet they don't have any junk food over there like we do here either, huh? Are folks skinny? You know America has a weight problem and junk/fast food is probably the main culprit. Well, I'm in Atlanta working this week. Atlanta is just the opposite of where you are...fast paced, hurry hurry, buy buy, see see, do do...oops, I didn't mean it like that! Deville will probably seem like Africa when I get back there! I will have dinner with George, Margie, and Grandpa Friday. You know Grandpa will be 99 years old Aug 22. He is an amazing man. More later...love ya. Aunt Sue.

you know what i really like about you? well, one of the things? how you don't have that little 'edit' button in your brain!!! (i sometimes lack that also)
so, glad you're having wonderful adventures and building relationships (praying for brian and freddy)...sorry about the...um...as my mother-in-law would say 'up-chucking!'
maybe you should lay off the tree pull-ups!
have a great week, ja-roo-roo!
